Memorable shoots - Elvis Presley and Graceland memories

I recently learned that Elvis Presley’s Graceland was at risk of being sold in a foreclosure auction, but a temporary injunction issued by a court in Shelby County, Tennessee has prevented this from happening. Elvis Presley Enterprises responded to the court ruling, stating that there was no validity to the claims and that there will be no foreclosure. Graceland will continue to operate as usual, providing an exceptional experience for Elvis fans visiting his iconic home.

Imitation they say is the highest form of flattery.

This news reminded me of a photoshoot I did at Graceland in Memphis. I had the opportunity to shoot a flyover of the compound as a dedication to Elvis for Riley Keough and her family in memory of her grandfather. It was surprising to me that despite having had lived in Memphis for a year and a half as a photojournalist, I had never visited Graceland. However, when I finally went to shoot the assignment, I was struck by the impact of the place. Even decades after Elvis’s passing, fans still make pilgrimages to his home and resting place, leaving their mark on the walls and showing their dedication to his legacy. I was also amazed to see several Elvis impersonators walking around. It was the first time I had witnessed such a strong devotion to a musician. Elvis truly remains the KING.
