Memorable Photoshoot in Nashville, TN part 3 Grace Potter
August 10, 202310 minutes with Grace Potter in a locker room
Back in 2012 I was assigned to shoot Grace Potter for Gibson Guitars. The opportunity that was available by our deadline was prior to her going on stage to perform at Nissan Stadium. It was understood that I would have a space to set up to take her photos. Turns out that space was a small referee’s locker room. While I working on preparing the gear outside of the locker room I was told by her manager she would be there early and I had at max ten minutes to get the shot.
Recognizing the situation and working without a photo assistant I opted for two lights and use the available environment. No sooner had I got the lights in the room than she showed up. Thus the clock was ticking and the manager was certainly keeping track. Yep, you could say I had a big knot in my stomach at this point. Told myself it was just an exciting situation and that I had this. Grace was in good spirits and was open to my suggestions. The first option was to use the wood lockers as a background and the other was sitting on the tiled shower floor. She was beautiful as ever and the artist’s photography mission accomplished. Whew, and recalled a photography friend’s wise words, “fight through and don’t give into the stress”.
