Acting on inspiration

As a creative professional, there are times when photography projects need to be done just to challenge you. For me, this keeps me fresh and confident knowing that I have honored the visionary muse when she visits me. This also keeps her coming back.

One of these times I decided to illustrate the coming of winter. To me, winter had to be the frigid sister of spring with her warmth and fertile promise. So to my delight, I was able to persuade the talented Shana Purkey to do hair and makeup and  Cheryl Brehm to model. This was a truly motivated team effort. Cheryl provided the dress, and Shana understood the unique hair and makeup approach and provided some props. With these elements in place, I created the set using lots of crinkled aluminum foil, cellophane, and wood twigs painted white then added an ice crown made from hot glue to top it off.  Cheryl took on the role and even added to some of the uniqueness of the poses. She chilled out well!

Love this quote and use it to remind myself to respond to my oddly curious dreams. “When you’re curious, you find lots of interesting things to do.” — Walt Disney. Stay curious and if you are interested in creating something on one of your projects give me a shout and let’s have some fun in creating.
